DAO TRIEU MINH
I am Đào Triệu Minh, a student with a resilient spirit, an analytical mindset, and a passion for Agroeconomics. Growing up in an agricultural family in Vietnam, I witnessed my grandparents laboring in the fields with little security, their livelihoods fragile despite years of hard work. Their perseverance taught me responsibility, while my grandmother’s words gave me the determination to pursue education as a pathway to change.
When my family moved to the U.S. at the start of high school, language was my greatest challenge. At first, silence felt safer than speaking. But through persistent reading, from newspapers and magazines to classics like To Kill a Mockingbird, I built not only my English but also my confidence, cultural understanding, and curiosity about how societies function. That curiosity soon grew into a commitment to research and leadership.
I have presented on natural farming at the Johns Hopkins Sustainability Symposium, researched soil fertility and Indigenous Microorganisms, and contributed to demographic studies at the Asian Growth Research Institute. Beyond research, I lead as President of the Economics Club and Rotary International chapter, and serve as a Red Cross volunteer with First Aid certification. My ultimate goal is to design policies that provide rural farmers not only survival but also stability and choice, so the next generation can define their own future freely—just as my grandmother once wished for me.
Study hard, so one day you won’t have to work in the fields, you can work in an air-conditioned room instead.” – my grandmother
